ARTru2017 Concert

The ARTru Concert is a total Arts & Entertainment Concert which combines all the genres of Arts (Visual Arts, Music, Comedy, Theatre and other Performing Arts) in a live stage performance.
This concert which started in 2015 was able to successfully sustain the platform of collaborating all the genres of Arts (Visual Art, Music, Comedy, Dance, Drama, etc) in another live performance in 2016. The event was held at the prestigious Glover Memorial Hall in Marina, Lagos, on Saturday, 12th of November, 2016.

We were able to achieve sustainability in our ability and quest to move the project to a next level. Mike Asuqwo, a seasoned Cartoonist was the Performing Visual Artist.

We were also able to use the ARTru platform to publicly celebrate the Nigerian Visual Artists and some stake holders in the Nigerian Visual Arts, as the event was graced by some notable Visual Artists, and also Prince (Engr.) Yemisi Shyllon who was awarded as one of “The Distinguished Art Patrons of The Year 2016”.

As a brand, we will keep promoting the Arts in Nigeria, and as well project the relationships that exists between the Visual Arts and the Performing Arts.

The theme for ARTru2017 is, “THINK SAFETY”. This theme was selected as a part of our contributions to inform the general public within all age and sector on the need to be safety conscious at all time and place so as to reduce to a barest minimum the rate of domestic, road, and industrial accidents, to also be safety conscious in terms of healthy living, and most importantly, to make Nigeria and the world at large a safer place to dwell in.

It is widely known that all the FRSC signs and symbols are graphic illustrations, and as well, they are “Artworks”. This shows how deep the relationship between the FRSC and the Visual Artists is or should be. This is a fact that many people don’t either know or realise.

The whole idea about having the FRSC as a major partner in ARTru2017 is as a result of theme of the year, which is “Think Safety”.

We all know that the FRSC is in the forefront of ensuring adherence to the word “safety”, though they are particular about safety on the Nigerian roads, as their name connotes (Federal Road Safety Corps). We also know that safety is very key to human existence, and in the protection of lives and properties.

As part of efforts aimed at achieving the FRSC 2017 Corporate Strategic Goals of Enhanced Public Education and Enlightenment, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command has agreed to partner with Brotherart Productions on ARTru2017 in other to take advantage of the public enlightenment opportunities made available by the ARTru projects in other TO ENCOURAGE NIGERIANS TO EMBRACE THE CULTURE OF OBSERVING THE PEDESTRIAN LANES. This is to help reduce the many carnages and recent increase in loss of lives on our major roads within the metropolis due to inappropriate pedestrian crossing, and as well ensure a high level of safety on our roads.

In other to achieve some sense of gender equality, we have decided to celebrate a female Nigerian Visual Artist. We are pleased to present to you, Taiye Oseiza Erewele.

Taiye is a Painter/ Mixed Media Artist. She holds a B.A degree in Fine & Applied Arts from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and M.A in Visual Art History from the University of Lagos, Akoka.

ARTru2017 is organized in partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Command, with support from the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) and Theatre Centrik.
